The Ultimate Concealed Weapon

You can always have it with you, but your kids can't play with it. It is legal in all 50 states and you'll never be stopped at the airport x-ray machine with it.

It is knowledge. The knowledge you'll need to protect yourself and your family.

To gain this knowledge, you'll need to make an effort, but isn't your life and security worth it? Apparently, many of your friends and neighbors think so. Almost a third of all Americans consider security from crime to be one of the top-of-mind issues today. Even with the prosperous economy, many people don’t feel safe at work, in their car or at home. As your guide for self-defense, I am going to strive to provide the kind of resources and information which you can really use.

I know what you’re thinking, "Yeah, but I’ve heard all that stuff before – lock your doors, walk with confidence, yadda, yadda. But what should I do if I’m actually attacked?"

We get that question and ones like it all the time. And the reason we do is because the information that is currently out there is very general and directed mostly toward prevention, not protection.

Now, don’t get me wrong, prevention should be your top priority. Like Mark Twain said, "It is always easier to stay out of trouble rather than to get out of trouble." But, sometimes you can do everything right and still find yourself in grave circumstances. We will work on providing the info you need to help yourself when no one else can.

To start developing your own Ultimate Concealed Weapon skills, we have some items which should be on your to-do list:

  • Develop your situational awareness. Most of the time, trouble can be avoided because the violent criminals – armed robbers and rapists – are predators. Most non-violent criminals – burglars and thieves – are opportunists (of course, any criminal can become violent). Predators will look for the weakest animal in the herd. When you stay aware of what is happening and who is around you, the predator loses his element of surprise.
  • Get to know your neighbors. Chances are they have the same security concerns as you. Besides, there really is safety in numbers. When it's you against the world, I'd have to bet on the world.  Most rapes occur within one mile of the victim's house, so your neighbors can be a huge help in your defense.
  • Enroll in a self-defense course. The techniques you'll need to defend yourself must be learned and practiced. Ask your friends for recommendations of competent instructors. Look in the phone book and visit some classes. Find one that stresses realism and practicality. Your newly-found skills and attitude can save your life. Research shows that simply displaying the will to resist will thwart half of all attacks. We also offer resources here to help you find a program.
  • Remember what your mother said. In the end, we have to admit that sometimes Mom was right. Some of her best advice really could be to "always lock your doors" and "don't talk to strangers".

Your brain is your best defense weapon. This site is a good place to launch your start in developing the skills and habits needed to protect yourself.
